Angry Birds is a game inspired by a sketch of a wingless bird, first released to iPhone and quickly grew to becoming the most-downloaded game of all time. 500 million downloads later Angry Birds is on-course to become the Mickey Mouse of gaming. Using a slingshot, launch the nest of Angry Birds to destroy pigs and structures. 

Meet the Angry Birds Characters

  • Red Bird is the main angry bird, capable of smashing all types of surface.
  • Blue Bird is a bird that explodes into three birds and is most proficient at smashing glass.
  • Yellow Bird is known for speed, when you tap goes faster and is the de-facto bunker buster bird.
  • Black Bird is the bomb, after launching he has the ability to explode once clicked again. Great for destroying lots of concert and pigs.
  • Mighty Eagle destroys all the pigs instantly. He will beat any level you use him on automatically, though you will not get any stars on levels you use him on. And normally costs money to use him.
  • Big Brother can crush a concrete wall with its weight. It doesn't need superpowers to be effective with its massive size
  • Orange Bird when this bird is launched, the bird expands to a huge balloon. A couple seconds later it deflates and pops.
  • Green Bird can spin around and smash the pigs from the other side, this bird is similar to(and has been nicknamed) the boomerang.

 

The Pig-genning

At first these wingless, feet-less birds were first created without a story or game in mind. After playing around with the plot Angry Birds was created! Angry Birds started with people not knowing what to draw. Artists played around with characters a couple hours a day. Finally wingless birds with no feet came up. Then green pigs came up because of the 2009 swine flu epidemic. They wanted to build a story with characters and eventually to develop a brand. After many hours of coding and design, the game was born. It was more of a side project than anything when finally one of the creators went home for dinner and noticed his mom couldn't put the game down. He realized they might be on to something. In December of 2009 they finally launched the game.

At first the game was barely profitable, and building a user base was slow going. Then popularity exploded into Europe and then Asian countries caught the Angry Birds bug. Finally America fell in love with the birds and the desire to smash the pigs. The game was based on simplicity and a belief that giving consumers a fun, engaging game without nickel and diming users, and creating a long lasting brand.
